Rarely Sick by Lance Rogers

I’m generally a pretty healthy guy.  I don’t always eat perfectly or exercise much, but God has blessed me with a strong immune system I suppose.  I rarely catch the cold or flu that “everyone is getting” in spite of the exposure. Read the rest of this entry »

How I Try To Deal With Stress

Stress is what I struggle with most these days.  I have a hard time shutting my mind off at night, sometimes to the point of tossing and turning for a few hours before falling to sleep.  It seems that there are two things that have affected how I deal with stress:    Read the rest of this entry »

I will never forget the Sunday I walked into the foyer of our Church just two weeks after Summer Youth Camp.  We had a western theme that year and the Junior Camp director had taken a picture of me and had it enlarged and then displayed it in the Church foyer for our camp Sunday. Put Down the Lid (Dave Thomas)

“Friday:  Date night!”  That’s what Friday means on my calendar.  I decided, when I first entered the ministry to have one night that would be a date night with my wife.  I heard a very profound pastor at a minister’s conference say that this would be a great thing to do (for the life of me I don’t remember who that guy was).  Anyway, it was great advice.  I don’t know of too many things that I do that really impresses my wife, but holding hard and fast to that night being “our date night” means more to her than I can tell you. Be Real, Be You! (Lenny Pirtle)

“Know thyself” is an ancient philosophical proposition.  Scripture gives some insight on why this is so hard, “the heart is desperately wicked, WHO CAN KNOW IT?” Couple that with this statement “all men are liars” and “we have a problem Houston”!  Authenticity is hard to arrive at as a person or as a pastor!
