Ten years ago when I took the pastorate of my current church I was 29 and had a lot to learn. One of the areas that I had no experience with was staff. At the time the church only had two full time positions and I had one of them as the youth pastor. Read the rest of this entry »
Laymen’s Revival (Dave Thomas)
Posted by Guest Contributor in The Developing Pastor on June 22nd, 2009
If I could, I would like to share with you all something that we did last month with some of the men at the church, that had a great impact on the whole church family, and especially on the men who participated and myself, as the pastor. I had heard of people having a “Laymen’s Revival”, with the well qualified men of the church bringing the messages for each of the services. Read the rest of this entry »

Training Teachers Takes Time (Jeff Blair)
Posted by Guest Contributor in The Developing Pastor on June 8th, 2009
Actually, the title is a bit misleading. The truth is, training good teachers takes time. It doesn’t take much time at all to train a mediocre or crummy teacher. But if we want capable teachers in our classrooms (or small groups, or whatever you’re calling your thing these days) it’s going to take time. Read the rest of this entry »
